Archai UNESCO Chair announces 2 postdoctoral positions in Ancient Philosophy at the Philosophy Department of University of Brasília, under supervision of Prof. Gabriele Cornelli.

The posts are fixed-term for 20 months, starting from March 1, 2015 to October 30, 2016.

The Fellowships are sponsored by Brazilian Ministry of Education.

Successful candidate will earn monthly R$ 4,100 (Brazilian Reais), tax free, and must demonstrate the following elegibility criteria :

(i) An outstanding research record, preferably in Platonic philosophy, appropriate to the present stage of the applicant’s career, with evidence of potential for producing distinguished research.

(ii) Excellent knowledge of ancient Greek.

(iii) The ability to work closely and productively with research collaborators, and to conduct advanced research individually and without close supervision.

(iv) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

(v) Candidates should have received the degree of PhD (or equivalent) after March 2009.

Post-holders are expected to develop collaborative research, to publish research results and to contribute to Archai UNESCO Chair by helping organize conferences, supervising students and teaching.

a. A Curriculum Vitae including list of publications.

b. A brief Memorial (no more than 1000 words) of the academic trajectory of the applicant.

c. A statement of proposed research (no more than 2000 words) specifying the topic(s) to be studied and mentioning expected publication ;

d. A sample of written work (about the length of a journal article or book chapter).

e. One Letter of Reference to be sent (preferably by email) directly to the email address below.
